Why I wrote a funny novel instead of an American classic

So, I wrote this wacky novel about goofy characters involved in various surreal adventures, and my target readership was, of course, young nitwits.  Imagine my chagrin when I discovered that the young nitwits don't think my novel is funny.  They don't get it.

I was distraught and planning on moving to Haiti when I became aware that the forty-plus crowd are reading The Journal of Lance Sterling and laughing gleefully.  Also, the more intelligent and sophisticated the reader is, the more violently he/she laughs.  Go figure!

I don't understand it, and I wish I did.  It would help me write my next funny novel if I did understand why smart readers like stupid stuff.  But, anyway, I'm redirecting this webpage to the attention of the older, smarter lunatic.

(What's with the Windjym heading?  I shoot little low-budget movies.)

The Journal of Lance Sterling by J. G, Curtiss

If you like wacky humor, this is the novel for you.  If you don't like wacky humor, something is wrong with you; but it's not your fault.  Your parents screwed up somehow durning your formative years, and you may leave the room.

Okay, you like wacky humor because you're still here.  Good!  Thank your parents.  The Journal of Lance Sterling relates the misadventures of a guy, Lloyd Boyd, who is terrified of rabbits, is sexually attracted to feet, has nightmares about his mother, and believes he can communicate with a platypus.  Otherwise, he's as regular a guy as you and me.
